Certain rare wines may not be available for large parties.
The bar can be a hosted bar, cash bar or combination of both.  When an item is
“hosted” it means that the charge will be placed on your master bill for what is
ordered.  When an item is “no host” it means that your guests will be
responsible for payment of drinks that they order.  You can choose how you
would like to handle the sale of wine, beer, liquor, champagne and non-
alcoholic beverages.  If you decide to host wine, we do ask that you choose
which white and red wines you would like offered to the guests.  We charge on
consumption for cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic beverages and charge for
each opened bottle of wine.

The Library does come with a private bar on the attached patio.  This bar has
limited stock.  However, anything that we serve in the restaurant can be
ordered from the Library bar.  The bar for the Library is normally stocked with
the following liquors and beers at the following prices:

If some or all of the items are sold on a “No Host” basis:

For groups in a private room other than the Library the server will present a
separate check per table at the end of the event which is to be paid by the
guests in one form of payment.

For groups in the Library, the guests will pay in cash at the bar as they order
drinks or they can give a credit card to the bartender to run a tab.

NOTE: A 20% gratuity may be added to all beverages sold on a cash basis.
Event Assistance
Our event specialists will be pleased to assist you with all your planning needs,
from the menu and room set-up, to special extras like flowers, décor and
entertainment and A/V equipment.

Confirmation & Deposit
Your signed contract and a deposit (dependant on room and event) will confirm
your reservation. This deposit is payable by credit card, or company or
personal check, and will be credited to your final bill. The deposit is non-
refundable within 30 days of your event.

For Weddings and Receptions, the deposit is refundable within 30 days from
the contract due date.  After 30 days the deposit is non-refundable.

Room Services & Rentals
Tarpy’s provides our standard white linens, plates, silverware and glassware.
We can also provide complimentary candles by request (taper or votives). We
can also help you arrange for special rental items (a 15% service fee is added)
or you can bring your own. We also have a list of Preferred Vendors that
includes bakeries, photographers, florists, videographers, DJs and musicians.

Food & Beverages
•        Complementary Beverages – All pre-set menu packages include
complementary hot tea, iced sport tea or coffee.
•        Entrée Selections – In order to provide you with the best service
possible, we request that groups of 20 or more limit their entrée selection to two
items. Any deviation is subject to management approval.
•        Menu Selection & Special Dietary Needs – All selections and requests
should be made no later than two weeks prior to your event.
•        Price Minimums – There is a $12 per person minimum for lunch parties,
and a $22 per person minimum for dinner.

Sales Tax & Gratuity
Packaged menu prices do not include tax and gratuity. Food and beverage are
subject to sales tax and a service charge (see room reservation contract for
specific amounts).

Tastings
A menu tasting can be arranged through our Banquet Department.  The fees for
tastings are $19.95 and $24.95 depending on what items are to be tasted.
Tastings are sized for two people with a maximum of four menu items. The
tasting fee will be credited to your final bill. We do normally like to have at least
1 week’s notice for a tasting due to the fact that some of our menu items are
special order.

Printed Menus
We will print up menus to put at each of your guest’s place setting.  There will
be space at the top of the menu for you to have a customized title or message
(to be arranged with our Event Coordinator).  This service is complimentary.

Sound System
The Library has a five-carousel CD player on which we play jazz and classical
music as background music if no other music is brought in.  You are welcome to
bring in your own CDs for background music.  There are no private sound
systems in any other private rooms at Tarpy’s.

Corkage
Should you choose to bring your own wine or champagne, you will be charged
a corkage fee of $15 per 750 ml bottle and $30 per magnum.  Any other
beverages that you’d like to bring in are subject to management approval and
corkage fees.

Cakes
Tarpy’s does not offer full cakes. If you select a menu that includes a Tarpy’s
dessert and decide to bring in your own dessert, you may deduct $6 from the
per person price of that menu. A dessert service fee of $1.50 per person will be
applied should you choose to bring your own dessert. Please see our list of
Preferred Vendors for recommended bakeries.

Final Head Count
We understand that you might have guests that don’t RSVP until just before
your event. Therefore, we do not require a final guest head count until 72 hours
(three days) prior to your event. This number cannot be reduced after this time.  
It is very important that this number be as accurate as possible, as this is the
minimum number for which you will be billed. If we do not receive an updated
figure, we will use the original estimated count as a firm guarantee. We do
normally set up to three extra place settings in case of unexpected guests.
Should your party be ordering off the regular menu in the main dining room, you
will be charged the minimum per person food expenditure for no-shows.

Event Start/End Time
To accommodate your group in the best possible manner, it is important that
you arrive on time. The room will be available to your guests no earlier than
your stated arrival time.  You may arrange for time to decorate or set up for
your event by contacting the Banquet Department.  If your party is going to be
delayed, please call ahead. Parties delayed more than 30 minutes may be
subject to a $25 per half hour late charge. Should your function extend past the
stated departure time, and additional room charge of $200 per hour, plus $25
per server per hour, will be added to your final bill. Prior notice may be
necessary for extended hours.

Finalizing Your Event Details
Once we have all of your event information a copy of your In-House Party
Sheet will be sent to you for your approval.  A signed copy of your In-House
Party Sheet must be returned to the Banquet Department no later than 3 days
prior to your event with the final guest count.

Final Payments
Payment is due in full at the conclusion of your function. All charges must be
applied to one account with a single form of payment. We prefer payment by
cash or company check, but we do accept Visa, MasterCard, American
Express and Discover.

Parking
We have a private parking lot for your guests. Should you require special valet
service or other options, please let us know and we will work with you to make
arrangements.

Guest Responsibility
Tarpy’s will not assume or accept any responsibility for damage to or loss of
any merchandise or articles left on the premises prior to, during, or following a
Customer’s function.

Wedding Ceremony Officiants
We do not provide wedding Officiants or the necessary paperwork for wedding
ceremonies. We would be happy to recommend an officiant from the nearby
Monterey Stone Marriage Chapel, which shares the property with Tarpy’s and
has this capability.
