The Pacific Grove Good Old Days Festival
The Good Old Days Festival happening in Pacific Grove is the biggest event in Monterey. It has everything, from a parade and live music to family-friendly activities, food, and drinks. This year, the festival is happening on May 7-8, and there’s sure to be something for everyone.
A parade will happen on Saturday starting at 10 am that winds through downtown Pacific Grove. The parade is always a popular event that includes marching units and color guards from the Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force. It can’t get better than this.
But the parade is just one of the many activities that will be happening. You can’t miss the dance showcase, the classic car show, the firefighter’s combat challenge, including the bucket brigade and the hose cart contest.
There will also be live music bands throughout the weekend at various locations around town. Like the last time, expect over 60 bands known and upcoming to perform live. Some bands that graced the last event include The Snarky Cats, Shiver, Firefly, Stu Heydon Blues Band, and more!
The festival is also great for families as there will be fun games, a petting zoo, and a bounce house for the kids. And of course, a celebration can’t be complete without food and drinks. There will be plenty of options for both.

The Best Place to Have a Meal Around
The Good Old Days event cannot be complete without a proper meal from Tarpy’s, Coastal Roots Hospitality’s restaurant, and Monterey’s number one choice.
Tarpy’s is the only choice for seafood. The locals know best, and if they’re taking out-of-towners, they’ll usually recommend Tarpy’s.
We have been here for well over 3 decades, and still going strong, serving up fresh seafood noon and night. We have a large bar with an extensive wine list – perfect for winding down after a day of exploring Pacific Grove.
You can never go wrong with anything on the menu, but some favorites include the spicy tuna tacos, chili-crusted chicken made with scalloped potatoes, and the Kobe burger.
We also have Happy Hour specials from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm Monday-Thursday.
So, book a table today and prepare for a meal you won’t forget!
